Here’s the story: we put together a comedy show at the Casbah in San Diego during Comic-Con 2012 to screen/promote the ANTARCTIC…HUH? Kickstarter campaign. We were really excited to book Tim Heidecker as the headliner, but he flipped out near the end of his set. Host Matt Hoyt did his best to keep the show rolling. Watch below.
We’ll be screening some of the work we’ve completed on the Antarctic…huh? project in between acts, but we’re looking for people to back us on Kickstater so we can complete the saga. The Casbah is just 1 mile from all the Comic-Con chaos. Buy a ticket in advance for only $10!
Rob Crow put on his acting hat, pun intended, for a new Antarctic…huh? scene. His love of water, boats, and food came in handy. He plays a swarthy captain with a love of sea mammals. More on this later.
Musician, Composer, and all around good guy Joe Plummer plays drums in San Diego tonight (Sunday Dec 5th 2010) with his new outfit appropriately titled Mister Heavenly. The band consists of Honus Honus (Man Man) on vocals & keys, Nick Diamonds (Islands/Unicorns) on vocals & guitar, Joe Plummer on Drums, and Michael Cera (actor of several funny films) on bass. Cera doesn’t play bass on the Heavenly record, but he’s a great bass player and touring with them for the time being. Mister Heavenly shouldn’t be missed because their record won’t come out until 2011 on Sub Pop. They’ve labeled their music “Doom Wop”. From what I saw/heard in Pomona last night it had plenty of hooks and changes that hail back to 50′-60′s sandwiched between tasty layers of sonic scrawl that borrow from of their other bodies of work…with a nice twist. Joe lent us several songs for Antarctic…huh? and one of his tunes is smack-dab right in the middle of our first trailer. You can watch it ANTARCTIC…HUH – trailer 1 here.
We’re making a series about Antarctica in a backyard in San Diego, CA. An early version was on display this past summer at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (La Jolla) as part of the “Here Not There” exhibition. Directed, produced, written, performed, & composed by Matt Hoyt, Jason Sherry, Pat Cummings, Damon Wojdak, Joe Plummer, Casey Butler, Trevor Boyer, and several other friends…
Casey Butler – composer/musician
Casey is a musician & composer. He helped Matt Hoyt create and compose the Antarctic…huh? theme song as well as several other tunes. He currently plays saxophone around Los Angeles, CA, but not on the streets.
Joe Plummer – composer/musician
Joe is a musician based in Portland, OR. He composed several songs for the Antarctic…huh? trailer and pilot. He records under the name Robot Horse & Robert Horse. He plays(ed) drums for Mister Heavenly, Modest Mouse, The Shins, & more.
